The GHA is a lobby group working for the building industry to further the causes behind the Code for Sustainable Homes. We have worked closely with them as an information resource with direct results from our build programmes over the past three years. The effect of the 'fuel factor' on choice of heating systems is one aspect of the CfSH that we would hope to see rectified through this process.

In conjunction with the Department of the Built Environment, we are using our recent Code 4 housing to carry out post production tests on both our build performance and ease of use. This information will be fed back to the GHA who are currently producing a template for testing to try and gather quantitative data from a range of different projects around the country.

We are working with Sasie, a renewable energy installer, to bring clarity to the funding process and how best to utilise it on time sensitive projects where funding can rarely be drawn down effectively, even though HAs are elegible for it on a potentially large scale.

Affordable New Homes were shortlisted this year for a research grant for looking at the most efficient and appropriate method of storage of renewable energy in timber frame constructions.
